I hope Donald Trump and his supporters can use their administration correctly, and do the best for as many people and animals as possible. I think Obama did a pretty good job overall; not as good as his supporters expected, not as bad as his detractors claim.
Some Black People Let Obama Down
I don’t know what the situation in the U.S.A. is, mostly viewing it from television. Although always having been a leftie liberal, I began to worry about the Obama administration on the night of his election victory, as his supporters celebrated as if he was the new messiah.
I think it would have been better if they’d been more greenYgrey about it, as Obama tried to be usually:
Chicago was the main city featured in the British news on election night, and that magnificent lakeside city has since seen some of the worst gun crime statistics ever: more than New York and L.A. combined in the last year. Is that a coincidence? I don’t know.
While it was a welcome landmark administration, with Obama the first mixed-race president, I think it would have been better for the U.S.A. and Democrats if they’d tried to treat it as normally as possible, instead of some people trying to use the administration for a revolution.
I think it was a case of too much hope for some people, which brimmed over into counter-productive aggression and violence; as violent white-power people like Dylann Roof are the mirror reflection.
Marlon Brando Documentary
Ironically, I watched a Marlon Brando Imagine documentary this week (which isn’t currently available on iplayer), and was thinking what a pity it was that he didn’t become president, as he’s probably the closest the U.S.A. will get to a Native American advocate president.
However, while I related to his brooding deep-thinking greenYgrey thinking, his moodiness and principled single-mindedness probably wouldn’t help him in politics; especially in the twenty-four-seven media world we now live in.
Modern political thinking is more like business than philosophy, and that’s why Donald Trump could be a more successful president than it seems now, even if I don’t agree with most of his likely policies.
The lack of hope, reflected through the news media I’ve seen anyway, could be Donald’s ‘Trump card’ to humble success, apart from his family, whereas Obama had to contend with so much hope it became a hurdle!
