Genius inventor Thomas Edison is quoted as having said that his genius was 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration [Wikiquote: Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration. Spoken statement (c. 1903); published in Harper’s Monthly (September 1932)]
Genius by Mistake
At the greenYgrey we have a variation adapted from the above quote. We think our genius is more often than not 1% mistake and 99% rectification.
We hope that won’t spoil your enjoyment of our offerings, and that you will still consider our words a work of genius, as well as fiction.
Hi, it’s Jack Wolfpac, poetic travel fiction correspondent at the greenYgrey.
Like the Black Eyed Peas once did, last week we were once again wondering Where is the Love? This was because Love the mixed-up vole had vanished from the greenYgrey world.
However, our relief was soon once again replaced by concern, as the travellers seemed to be heading for more trouble in a speedy underground journey to an unknown destination.
New X Files Parody Chapter
Thankfully, another report has now reached us, and they both seem to be okay. However, all does not seem to be going to plan.
That’s because they seem to have jumped from Chapter 1 to Chapter 3. I don’t know what has happened to Chapter 2. Maybe we will find out all in good time. Hopefully it is just a genius by mistake attack, and it will all be rectified.
Anyway, the report says they are in east Estonia, and it tells us this in a wordplay literary nonsense poem:
Chapter 3 Episode 1
Estonia Arrival Wordplay Place Name Poem
Narva did expect
a werewolf welcome
to be as sweet
as it was.
We’d travelled south
to Estonia’s north-west
although Estonia’s etymology
derives from East.
saying tara to Russia
and hello to Taara.
Taara related to Thor
Estonia was east to Vikings
Christians banished paganism
but east Estonia’s biggest city is Tartu.
Enlarged Estropolis in east Estonia
wonderful werewolf welcome
taara Russia, hello to Tartu
Narva did expect, Silla Mae.
Narva, Silla Mae and Tartu are cities in eastern Estonia. The first two were wordplayed with Never and Silly Me.
Taara (Tharapita) was the primary pagan god in the region before Christianity, and was wordplayed with Tara (short way of saying goodbye).
Estropolis is a new word combining Estonia and metropolis.
