Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics Final Highlights

The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics will be remembered for many things, but its greenygreyness will probably not be one… except in the Greenygrey world that is. First of all, congratulations to Russia for putting on a great games, and winning the medal table, and also all the Winter Olympians.

Graham Bell, Winter Olympian

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams with a satirical comedy sports report. Yes, after the Winter Olympics 2014 Alpine events finished at Sochi former Winter Olympian Graham Bell was asked for his Alpine stars.

In the above photo Bell is probably asking how come fellow presenter Ed Leigh gets to greenygrey, and he doesn’t. Leigh is obviously the happier of the two, to the point of looking smug.

Graham Bell’s Alpine Stars

While they came from different countries and genders, they did have one thing in common: yes, you probably guessed it, a love of greenygreying.

Perhaps fittingly, the first Alpine stars on Bell’s list were Kjetil Jansrud and Tina Maze, who have already been featured on this blog for greenygreying and Super Ging.

Ted Ligety

I have to admit that Team U.S.A.s Ted Ligety had escaped my Eddie ‘The Eagle’ eyes until Bell brought his love for greenygreying to my attention. Here’s a couple of photos of Ligety in super GGing action:

Mikaela Shiffren

Graham Bell’s last Alpine star, Mikaela Shiffren, was another Greenygreyer that slipped through my grip.

It didn’t take me long to find some great greenygreying images of Shiffren. And here’s a couple:

Top Greenygrey Star

While the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics will probably not be remembered as the Greenygrey Games like the London 2012 Summer Olympics; the Greenygrey is more at home in warm climates; I like to think that Team GG did contribute quite a great deal to the games.

While the above Alpine skiers were undoubtedly great, for me the star greenygreyer of Sochi 2014 was the helmet of the Czech Republic snowboarder Sarka Pancochova.

In true greenygrey shapeshift dividing style, and also remembering the Hats of Hope met in the Werewolf of Oz: Fantasy Travel by Google Maps, the helmet broke in two to break Pancochova’s fall, allowing her to compete again three days later.

In this image, featured in the same BBC Saturday highlights show as Bell’s naming of his Alpine stars, the greenYgrey helmet’s split is shown at its bottom, revealing a yellow inside.
